The First WEEK of 4th GRADE: Setting the Stage for Learning

During the first two weeks of school, I love teaching students how the brain works.  After all, it is the reason we are in school!  Shouldn't we all know some basics about how learning works.

The average 4th grader is more than capable of understanding how the brain learns.  In fact, they need to be taught how the things they do during the year affect how they learn.

Here is a good overview of the science of how the brain works.  I will be going through this with my students during the first weeks of class.  In addition, I will show students notetaking strategies that will help them "grow" their brain throughout the year!
